Getting Started: Create a ‘Project Calendar’
Your Project Calendar should determine working and non-working days for the project. Also factor in different governmental holidays if working with an international client.
Set the Start Date of your project.
Plan out Tasks
Work on Estimates
Think about Dependencies
Factor in Deadlines and Constraints
Allocate Resources
Plan Assignments.
Fix resource over-allocation by leveling resources on your project
Optimize your schedule for time and cost by reviewing the critical path and high cost tasks
Set the baseline to capture the originally scheduled start and finish dates, durations, work, and cost estimates
UPDATING AND TRACKING: Perform regularly
Track Progress: Choose your update strategy
Update the baseline if you add new tasks. Do NOT update the baseline for the entire project, but rather for selected tasks
Report project status
