Mythology
Greek mythology is still studied today because its stories are very interesting and usually teach morals.
Modern stories often reference mythology, such as Fluffy from the Harry Potter series, who is based off of Cerberus.
Some well-known monsters in modern culture, like the Cyclops, were originally found in Greek mythology.
Many object in outer space are named after characters from mythology.
Most planets are named after Roman Gods.
Other celestial objects like the moons of other planets are named after more minor mythological figures.
Medicine
Hippocrates, an ancient Greek, is generally credited with the turning away of prayer and sacrifice to heal disease and popularized use of diet and beneficial drugs.
He also made many medical discoveries, like how finger clubbing may be a diagnosis of disease.
An oath that he wrote, now known as the Hippocratic Oath, is still recited by many physicians today.
Roman doctors, though they were originally considered to be lower class, eventually became important citizens like they are today.
Romans also started to make medical schools and required professionals to pass a test, also like today.
The Romans developed many modern medical practices, like brain surgery and using prostheses to replace limbs.
History
The modern Olympics are based off of a series of sports contests done in ancient Greece every four years by naked men.
The Roman Coliseum and Gladiators are often shown in movies.
Democracies, like America's government, originated in Ancient Greece.
Architecture
Roman Architecture is used in modern day society
Used in Europe and America
Romans had schools, theaters, and even apartments built simaler to current day.
Washington DC was crafted after Roman Architecture
Domes arches and columms are examples of Roman styles used today

Special Harry Potter Section
Harry Potter uses many Latin names such as Lucius Malfoy, Draco Malfoy, Scorpius Malfoy, Albus Dumbledore, Minerva Mcgonagall ect.
Many spells also use Latin such as Expecto Patronum.
A prime example of Mythology Fluffy, whom is crafted after the three headed dod cerberus. He gards the sorcerers stone along with: A deadly plant called devils snare, flying keys, a giant chessboard, A troll, and a number of potions turned into a logic puzzle
I am sickened by the lack of Harry Potter information.
Linguistics
The Romance languages are all dirived from Latin (ROMance ROMe) and english has a mixture of latin and germanic roots.
Many scientific names for animals are made up partially of latin words.
Close to half the words in the english language dirived from latin.
Literature
Many famous Greek and Roman pieces of literature like the Odyssey have inspired writings today.
Odysseus bears close resemblance to the popular superhero, Batman, in his mortal parentage, intellect, and ability to operate in the dark.
Pieces like the Odyssey and the Illiad were the first epic storys following a hero on a quest. This style of writing is still practiced today.
